Argan Oil: Nature's Sunscreen

Argan Oil comes from the kernels or seeds of the Argania Spinosa L. tree that is indigenous to the southwest region of Morocco, where it grows wild. Since ancient times, Moroccan women have used Argan Oil to help lighten dark spots and hyperpigmentation of the skin, and to protect the skin from sun damage.

So you’re probably wondering, what is it about Argan Oil that helps to block UV radiation?  Well, it has to do with the high content of tocopherols, vitamin E, Antioxidants and Omega oils that aid in blocking the melanocyte (pigmentation cells) from proliferating in the skin.  Argan Oil also protects the skin from damage to collagen that is associated with premature aging.  Researchers have found that a combination of oral and cosmetic argan oil led to a significant increase in elasticity of the skin.

While all of this natural protection is great, used on its own Argan Oil is still not enough to safeguard your skin from damaging UV rays. Argan Oil should always be used in conjunction with other natural oils and ingredients to provide a more complete protection for epidermis.  We here at Ma’na Organix are always looking to replace toxic products in our skin care routine.  We are currently developing our answer to all natural sun protection for the skin and hair.  So be sure and look for that to come! 😊
